Fishing out of Rondout Creek NY
Stripers spawn in the Hudson River from April through early June. The schools are so big and dense that your fish finder screen will go black, commonly known as a "blackout". The best fishing usually occurs through the month of May. By then bass begin stacking up in a 40 mile section of river that stretches from Poughkeepsie to Catskill. This is where the river changes from saltwater to freshwater, and where the spawning begins. There is NO Fishing license required on the Hudson River because it is considered Tidal Waters.
Lake Ontario Salmon
Charters start August 16th
Fishing out of Oswego NY
The best fishing usually occurs through the months of August and September. By then, Salmon start moving in from all over the lake, and start stacking up within a mile or two from the shore, getting ready to run the river to spawn.
